The Discovery

Once upon a time there was a girl who had very severe allergies. As a baby she would often get ear aches and runny noses. The doctor told her parents to take her off milk – her first food allergy.
In junior high she developed severe hives – after going to a variety of doctors and specialists no one was able to determine the cause of her itchiness.
Soon after that she developed odd skin discoloration on her legs – purple blotches that would come and go constantly. No one could tell her what caused them or how to get rid of them.
In college the head aches started.
And throughout it all stuffy noses were daily occurrences and sinus infections were annual.
She tried everything. Sudafed and Zyrtec would help the symptoms, but no cure could be found.
Then one day her mother met a woman who had a sensitivity to salicylates (an active ingredient in Aspirin). The women had all the same symptoms as the girl, and in desperation had finally stumbled upon information on salicylate sensitivity. After going off salicylates she has been completely free of all previous symptoms.
The girl had a known allergy to Aspirin – she was intrigued and instantly started researching everything she could find on salicylate sensitivity. The search was not easy, most sites only had a little bit of information on salicylates hidden behind information on other food allergies and problems. Finding salicylate free recipes was extremely difficult – limited to just a few recipes or to books that were incredibly hard to find and/or expensive. She wanted a site where she could find all the information and help she needed in one place.
That girl was me. This site is dedicated to my discoveries and journey in coping with salicylate intolerance. And it is dedicated to helping others live a healthier and more enjoyable life.

Health to you and yours -
Beth
