Day Thirteen of New Elimination Diet
July 26th, 2007NIGHT: Ended up staying up till around 2am last night – not a good decision in retrospect – but I guess that’s what comes from starting the 2nd season of 24 and continually saying “just one more”. Definitely wasn’t a good idea though and I will not be staying up that late again anytime soon – I feel miserable this morning.
6:00am – woke up with very stuffy nose, headache, cough, and heart racing. Felt very tired but was unable to sleep more due to the aforementioned symptoms.
6:11am7:15am – turned on the shower and sat in the steam for a while. Then took a bath to try and relax.
7:15am-7:50am – laid in bed and tried to go back to sleep – couldn’t. Nose was really stuffed up and runny. Head hurt. Eyes hurt. Ears hurt. Noticed swollen gland. Started wondering if maybe I have a little bit of a virus or infection.
7:53am – took temp and it was 97.4 degrees Fahrenheit
7:54am – had hives on head for just a short time
8:00am – signed into work
8:06am – had gas for a little while
8:15am – took 200mg of magnesium in hot water
8:41am – eyes really hurting
8:54am – ate a bowel of cereal with whole milk (NO sugar this time). Feeling TERRRIBLE! Everything aches and hurts and my nose is so stuffy it feels like it’s going to explode. Yuck!!
9:46am – felt very tired and was having a hard time focusing on work
9:50am – nose still really stuffed up, still sneezing a lot, and head still hurting
9:52am – took temp again and it was 97.3 degrees Fahrenheit
9:54am – drank a glass of water
10:00am – signed out of work and put on Friends in the hopes that it would distract me from my headache and relax me enough to get me to fall asleep
10:08am – drank another glass of water
10:59am – took temp and it was 96.3 degrees Fahrenheit
11:01am - ate a piece of homemade bread with some butter and a small handful of cashews. Drank a glass of water.
11:28am – nose cleared up (FINALLY). Ate a piece of short bread.
11:48am – ate another piece of bread with butter. Drank a glass of water
12:01pm – took temp 97.2 degrees Fahrenheit
1:00pm-3:30pm – slept out on the couch
3:32pm – woke up feeling really weak and dizzy. Drank a glass of water. Nose really stuffy again. Felt very hot and sweaty – it was hot outside again today. Head still really hurt. Ears still really hurt.
3:40pm – ate some pear (peeled) and drank another glass of water – only ate a few pieces as it wasn’t very ripe and just didn’t taste all that good – sort of felt scratchy on the throat
3:50pm – took temp and it was 96.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Dry cough came back so I went and sat in the bathroom with the shower on for steam
4:10pm – took 100mg magnesium, 500mg Coral Calcium, and 1,000mcg Coenzyme Vitamin B12 (as Methylcobalamin). Took both of these other vitamins off and on the week without hives and thought I should do the same this week – I’m feeling so bad anyway, they couldn’t make it any worse. I know it’s not great logic but hey by brain really isn’t all here right now. Drank another glass of water with these vitamins
4:16pm – watched tv for a while again – didn’t really feel up for anything else
4:29pm – ate bowl of cereal with whole milk
5:54pm – took temp again and it was 98.4 degrees Fahrenheit – the highest it’s been since I started taking it – is that a good sign or am I running a slight fever??
5:55pm – stood up to get some more water and lost peripheral vision for a second – sharp pain in head for a second as well but didn’t last long and then went back to the dull ache it’s been all day
7:01pm – took temp again and it was 96.9 degrees Fahrenheit
7:02pm – drank another glass of water and had two more slices of pear
7:04pm – realized that I had cottage cheese yesterday (something I had a few times the no-hives week, but hadn’t had the last few days)…I’m thinking that I could be reacting to the cottage cheese. My nose is much better now and I haven’t had hives at all today except for that little bit on my head earlier this morning. But, I still have a really bad headache and I have noticed headaches from cheese before in the past – especially if they have citric acid in them as a preservative.
7:30pm – washed some dishes with baking soda (they were sort of starting to pile up). Was feeling a little better apart from my headache. But, after washing the dishes felt pretty worn out.
8:00pm – ate dinner – lettuce with lemon and sunflower oil for dressing. Drank another glass of water
8:30pm – had some bread with butter
9:04pm – drank another glass of water
10:58pm – took temp again and it was 97.8 degrees Fahrenheit
10:59pm – drank another glass of water
11:00pm – had dry cough again – ran the steam in the bathroom for a little while again
11:21pm – brushed teeth with baking soda, took 200mg of magnesium and went to bed
Well, today was a rough day. Each of the last few days have been slightly better and better and then today happened…it was not better…it was much worse. I felt terrible! I felt so bad that I stayed in bed or just laid on the couch most of the day. I was discouraged…what had I done wrong. Then I remembered that I had some cottage cheese last night…could it have had some preservative in it or something that I would have reacted to? Well, I can’t know for sure as the whole package is in Czech. But, I had that kind of cottage cheese before and I hadn’t noticed any reaction like this one…but then again I did just start my period yesterday so maybe my body can handle that cottage cheese on a normal week but not when I’m on my period and my hormones are even more crazy and off balance then they normally are. I think it didn’t help the situation today that I hadn’t gone to sleep until after 2am last night and had woken up at 6am unable to get back to sleep from a headache and stuffy nose. So, that was my thought process on why the day was so rough, who knows if I’m right. Either way I am feeling slightly better now than I did earlier and I am hoping that I’ll at least be able to get a good night’s sleep. So, Day Thirteen not as great or successful as Day Eleven or Twelve, but I’m still desperately clinging to Hope. Hopeful that Day Fourteen will be better.
Health to you and yours –
Beth
PS – oh, one good thing about the day was that I one had hives once and that only lasted for a few minutes!! J Hooray!! Maybe this whole re-create the week without hives thing really is going to work even if I don’t feel well the fact that my hives are still getting better and better each day is an answer of sorts. So, that’s exciting.
Day Twelve of New Elimination Diet
July 25th, 2007NIGHT: Had trouble getting to sleep – got bad cough around 1am had the new humidifier on and thought that would help but it had a really new chemically smell and it seemed to make it worse, so we moved it to the family room and opened the windows in there a crack. Then I turned the shower on as hot as it would go and stood in the bathroom breathing in the steam for a while. That helped and I went to sleep soon after that. Slept pretty well, woke up a few times but was able to get back to sleep. Dreamed.
9:45am – got up. Had a little bit of a dry cough again. Nose was clear when I woke up but almost as soon as I stood up and got up it got stuffy.
9:53am – had large bowel movement – not too hard, not too soft
9:56am-10:40am – brushed teeth with baking soda, and showered. Sat in the bath tub with the shower running off to the side for steam for a while and tried to meditate and pray. I am realizing that the only place I can consistently breath is in the bathroom with the steam. My husband made a sort of bath scrub yesterday from sunflower oil and regular salt. I tried using that today because my skin has been feeling really dry. It was a little too oily for me and so I used baking soda afterwards to try and wash some of it off. Skin did feel really soft afterwards and not so dry. After shower I used Crystal stick deodorant and then got dressed. Had slight hives on head after brushing hair but they didn’t last long at all and were gone by the time I started eating breakfast.
10:43am – ate a bowl of my all natural cereal (figured out it’s actually not puffed rice but still not sure what it is) with whole milk and a little sprinkle of sugar for taste
10:48am – noticed nose was clear now
10:50am – signed into work and started working
10:59am – had gas for just a little while
11:44am – had hives on my right calf
12:13pm – had slight headache – nothing too bad though and only lasted a few minutes
12:14pm – had slight patch of hives on my chin. Drank a glass of water
12:23pm – took temp and it was 96.3 degrees Fahrenheit
12:34pm – drank another glass of water
12:47pm – had another bowel movement. Noticed I had started my period.
12:48pm – had cramps
1:18pm – had two pieces of homemade bread with butter
1:40pm – drank another glass of water
1:43pm – made short bread and put it in the oven
1:52pm – nose started to bother me again
2:01pm – nose started to feel a little better, had bad patch of hives on neck, had a bit of a cough again.
2:34pm – took temp again and it was 95.1 degrees Fahrenheit
2:35pm – had some short bread
2:48pm – drank another glass of water
3:32pm – right foot a little numb – moved around and it got better
3:41pm – ate some salad – lettuce, with fresh lemon juice, sunflower oil and a little salt and sugar for taste
3:44pm – had really bad cramps
4:00pm – drank another glass of water
4:07pm – felt sharp pain in my throat with every breath – realized that my husband had just made a pot of tea (could that be why my throat was feeling tight and painful?) I opened the windows up really wide and it got better, but I still felt like my throat was a little tight for a little while.
4:38pm – my husband finished his pot of tea, took out the trash and cleaned the tea pot. My throat started to feel even better after that.
4:43pm – had hives on chin and neck
4:53pm – hives where gone. Ate a small handful of cashews and a small piece of short bread
5:25pm – drank another glass of water
5:30pm – had web conference with my boss – was a little stressed about it but it went well and I felt better after it was over
6:15pm – had small patch of hives on left leg – didn’t last long – were gone by 6:19pm
6:38pm – took temp 96.0 degrees Fahrenheit
6:56pm – drank a glass of water
7:43pm – had hives on neck and chin but they didn’t last more than 5 or 10 minutes
8:20pm – signed out of work and started making dinner and doing dishes
8:36pm – nose got a little stuffy. Ears felt sort of full too.
8:38pm – took temp again and it was 96.9 degrees Fahrenheit
8:41pm – Ate dinner – plain couscous with a little cottage cheese. Drank a glass of water
8:42pm – had cramps again
9:44pm – have hives on neck. Started watching tv with husband
9:51pm – ate a bowl of cereal
10:47pm – brushed teeth with baking soda
Well, today was a pretty ok day, if fact it was so ok that I don’t have much to report. It was kind of a boring day, I just worked all day. And I felt pretty ok, I mean I didn’t feel great but most of the day I felt almost normal. So, Day Twelve ends pretty much how Day Eleven ended, one day closer to answers.

Day Eleven of New Elimination Diet
July 24th, 2007NIGHT: Slept pretty well, woke up quite a lot though especially in the early morning. Dreamed. It rained during the night.
10:00am – woke up – hadn’t slept in that much in a long time. Nose was very stuffed up when I woke up and my jaw felt very tight. Right ear was hurting. Had small patch of hives on left arm. Had cough.
10:04am – drank a glass of water and opened the windows – it was cooler outside this morning and the inside of our place was ridiculously hot so we opened the windows for a while
10:07am-10:30am – showered, used baking soda to wash up. Brushed teeth with baking soda and got dressed. Had hives on my head after brushing my hair
10:30am – signed into work
11:45am – ate a bowl of cereal with whole milk and three small spoonfuls of sugar for taste. Noticed the hives were gone.
12:11pm – took temp and it was 96.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
12:30pm –Noticed that my nose was a little bit clearer still sort of runny though.
1:20pm – took temp 96.9 degrees Fahrenheit

1:41pm – noticed nose was MUCH better
1:48pm – had another glass of water. Noticed I had hives on my chin – didn’t last long.
2:08pm – a bee flew in the house (I hate that they don’t put screens on the windows here) and I had to trap it and get it outside. Stress level went way up, heart was beating – I hate bee stings. Closed the windows after that – left two of them open just a crack so it doesn’t get too hot.
2:21pm – took temp again and it was 95.0 degrees Fahrenheit
2:35pm – left food felt tingly and numb - moved it around and it felt better
2:52pm – noticed it was really windy outside

3:25pm – drank another glass of water
3:33pm – had a small hive on my left shoulder – didn’t last long
3:50pm – had a sort of tingly feeling in face – wasn’t really hives but was close to hives…I think if I had scratched my face it would have turned into hives but I didn’t so it didn’t…

4:19pm – drank another glass of water
4:20pm – had small bowel movement
4:23pm – ate a piece of homemade bread fresh from the oven with a little butter - yummy!
4:51pm – nose started to be stuffy and runny again
4:54pm – left foot felt numb and tingly again – moved it around and it felt better
5:00pm – felt really stressed with work – had a bunch of stuff that I needed to get done today and it was taking longer than I thought it would – was suppose to do this project that I really didn’t feel comfortable doing
5:03pm – had some hives on my chin and neck just for a little bit
5:16pm – passed the project for work off to someone else and decided to talk to my boss tomorrow about not doing that aspect of my job anymore – I don’t need the added stress right now
5:17pm – nose cleared up a lot felt quite a bit better
5:20pm – drank another glass of water
6:13pm – cough came back – felt like breathing was a little force but not that bad – my husband bought a humidifier today so we turned it on and tried it out – the humidifier smelt sort of weird and plastic and at first I felt that the cough got worse after we started it but then it started to break up a little and get a bit better
6:20pm – drank another glass of water
7:00pm – signed out of work and started making dinner and cleaning the kitchen up

8:44pm – had gas a little bit
8:51pm – closed the windows all the way
8:52pm – ears were kind of bothering me
9:04pm – drank another glass of water
9:07pm – took temp again and it was 96.1 degrees Fahrenheit
9:13pm – noticed nose was clearing up
9:15pm – signed out of work and checked email and blogs for a while
9:31pm – noticed hives on my right arm
9:35pm – hives on arm were gone already. Right foot felt numb and tingly – moved it around and it got better
10:12pm – drank a glass of water and ate a slice of homemade bread with butter
10:13pm – watched a little tv
10:15pm – had a bowl of cereal
11:07pm – brushed teeth with baking soda, had another glass of water, took 200mg of magnesium, and went to bed. Had slight hives on my face again.
Over all today was a really good day – the best day since starting this whole thing probably. I mean my nose did bother me off and on and I did still have hives a little bit off and on but nothing really lasted all that long or was all that sever. So that was nice. Today was the first day I went through the whole day feeling pretty hopeful - I mean most of the last few days, weeks, months I’ve felt pretty depressed…yesterday was especially bad. I mean some days I just really have a hard time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and feel like this is going to be my whole life and feel like I’m never going to figure out what’s really causing my health problems and get better. But, today I didn’t really feel like that and it was a nice feeling. Hope. I’m learning just how powerful that word can be. It really does change everything when you have hope that things will get better and that there is a great SOMEDAY out there…It’s hard to have that hope when each day seems worse than the day before or even when each day seems no different than the day before. But, today was clearly better and that gave me hope. Not the kind of talk-my-self-into-it hope I’ve had the last few days but really genuine it-really-can-get-better hope. So, Day Eleven was pretty good and I am feeling hopeful about Day Twelve.

Day Ten of New Elimination Diet
July 23rd, 20077:40am – woke up feeling very tired but unable to sleep anymore because my nose was stuffy and runny and I had a bad dry cough
7:45am – drank a glass of water and checked email
8:02am – took 200mg powdered magnesium in hot water
8:21am – had a little bit of gas
8:27am – realized that the week without hives I hadn’t used the dish washer or the washing machine or dryer as they hadn’t been installed yet. Decided not to do any laundry for at least 5 days and see if that helps. Also decided to hand wash all of our dishes with baking soda like I did that week. Also, realized that I hadn’t taken as much magnesium that week as I was low and wanted to make it stretch longer, so decided to cut back a bit on the magnesium
8:58am – drank another glass of water
9:00am - nose was still really bothering me, went and took a shower with lots of steam to try and break things up, cough was already better though, did have small batch of hives on my chin but it didn’t last long
9:00am-9:40am – bushed teeth with baking soda, showered (used baking soda to wash off), used Crystal stick deodorant, and got dressed. Noticed right after showering that my ears were popping when I would yawn (usually they are so full that yawning won’t make a different). My ears felt clearer – especially the right one which has been giving me the most problems lately
9:44am – ate a bowl of puffed rice cereal with whole milk and three small spoonfuls of sugar for taste
9:55am – had another bowl of cereal (same as before)
10:00am – signed into work – I telecommute so whenever I work I am on the computer
10:19am – eyes felt scratchy and dry
11:04am – took temp and it was 97.5 degrees Fahrenheit
11:15am – nose still really bad – decided to try opening a window to see if some fresh air would help
11:54am – left foot felt a little numb and tingly for a few minutes – moved around a bit and it got better
11:59am – drank another glass of water
12:05pm – took temp again and it was 97.6 degrees Fahrenheit
12:16pm – nose still REALLY bad – closed all windows
12:37pm – drank another glass of water
15:56pm – ate a muffin
12:57pm – jaw felt soar while chewing
1:03pm – drank a glass of water
1:05pm – took temp again and it was 96.4 degrees Fahrenheit
1:06pm – ate another muffin
1:12pm – drank another glass of water
1:55pm – drank another glass of water
2:02pm – took temp again and it was 97.2 degrees Fahrenheit
2:09pm – ate another muffin
2:11pm – ate another muffin
2:22pm – drank another glass of water
2:30pm-4:30pm – was feeling really terrible – tired and nose really stuffy/runny, sneezing a lot, etc – signed out of work and tried to take a nap on the couch for a little while. Was able to fall asleep and slept for a while and then woke up a couple times and each time I woke up I was unable to move everything just felt super heavy and I couldn’t lift my arms or anything - I was never fully awake during these times and so I would fall right back to sleep pretty quickly. Then I woke up for good at 4:30 could move fine but just felt really weak and tired still. Felt really dizzy upon first getting up. Ears felt full. Eyes felt really dry and itchy. Nose was still stuffed up and runny. Felt very hot and sweaty. Cough had returned. Cried for a while. Put a damp rag on my forehead and eyes for a while and that felt nice.
4:40pm – drank another glass of water
4:46pm – took temp again and it was 97.9 degrees Fahrenheit
4:50pm-6:14pm – took a bath in just plain water nothing in it. I ran the shower first for a while though to fill up the room with steam and that really helped my cough. My nose also felt a little better with the steam – it wasn’t as stuffy, it was just running a lot. While in the bath I ate some pear (without the skin) and that seemed to help quite a bit. I wonder if the weak, dizzy thing was just my blood sugar dropping – I hadn’t really had much protein today (just some milk with breakfast) and I only had a few muffins for lunch and it had been a while since I ate them. The pear really helped me feel more able to coup with the world, the bath really helped me relax and just feel better about where I’m at, and the steam seemed to really help with the other symptoms like the cough and stuffy nose. My head started to hurt about half way through the bath but it’s not hurting any more now. Near the end of the bath I got hives pretty much everywhere and still have them a little bit everywhere right now – my skin just felt and feels really dried out from such a long bath and that made it feel really itchy. Overall though I’m feeling much better although still a little weak, and my nose is still really running (my nose hasn’t been clear at all today though so that’s nothing new). Oh, also during the bath I remembered that I had eaten raw cashews that week that I didn’t have hives – I had been worried that I wasn’t getting enough protein so I went and bought a big bag of raw cashews from the health food store and had eaten them whenever I felt sort of weak or tired.
6:17pm – Ate another muffin
6:23pm – talked to my husband and cried some more for a while – thankfully I have the greatest husband ever and he’s supper encouraging and really comforting and sooo helpful! I’m crazy about him and don’t know how I would get through this without him.
7:22pm – made a salad
7:40pm – ate dinner – half a head of lettuce with a dressing made from half a lemon some sunflower oil and a little salt and sugar. Drank two glasses of water.
8:23pm – cleaned the dishes with baking soda. Noticed that my nose was clear for the first time all day
8:38pm – worked on computer for a little while
9:45pm – bowel movement – small thin pieces sort of forced
9:48pm – had cramps not that bad but not great either
10:10pm – had another bowel movement – this one was normal
10:12pm – noticed ears were feeling pressurized and full
10:15pm – felt really hungry so I made a little couscous and ate it – plain all natural preservative free couscous with a little bit of salt and butter. Drank another glass of water.
10:34pm – watched a little TV with my husband
10:56pm – ate a small bowl of cereal
11:00pm – drank another glass of water.
11:04pm – noticed the blotches on my legs were gone – sometimes they get better when it’s hot (which it really is right now) but they look better than I have seen them in a LONG time. So, that’s cool.
11:05pm – brushed teeth with baking soda
11:09pm – took 100mg of magnesium in hot water and went to bed
Well, that was Day Ten…it was actually a pretty rough day. My nose was really stuffy almost all day – with the exception of about 3 hours or so in the late evening. My ears were bothering me off and on all day and my jaw felt soar and tight every time I ate. I had a pretty bad blood sugar episode in the middle of the day which was sort of scary. And all day I just felt tired and like my brain wasn’t working all that well. My hives weren’t that bad though – I mean I had a little bit of them off and on and then after the bath they were pretty bad but they didn’t last that long and so that was nice. So, I’m still hopeful but a little discouraged too… This whole chemical sensitivity thing gets more confusing every day…so, I guess we’ll just wait and see what tomorrow, Day Eleven, brings my way.

Day Nine of New Elimination Diet
July 22nd, 2007Alright, so today I am going to use a little different format for this, so we’ll see how it goes. Oh, and I was reading something about low body temperature and it having an effect on chemical sensitivities, allergies, and other health problems and I feel like mine has been low (except not in the morning when it is normal for the temp to run warmer than average) – so I’m going to try and take my temp about every hour for the next two or three days and see what that will tell us.
DURING THE NIGHT: Woke up quite a lot and at one point woke up very hot in a sweat covered in one of the worst attack of hives I’ve had in years. We also had a big thunder storm last night – lots of thunder and rain.
8:30am – woke up
8:38am – took temperature 97.7 degrees Fahrenheit
8:40am – nose got very stuffy and throat felt scratchy, started working at the computer
8:50am – started coughing – dry scratchy cough
8:55am – started having a bit of gas
8:58am – started sneezing a lot!
9:03am – opened the windows in the family room/kitchen to cool off the house – it’s been HOT and I don’t do well in heat
9:10am – cough started to break up a bit but was still present and breathing still felt a bit shallow
9:15am – had bowel movement – seemed normal, not too soft and not too hard
9:29am-9:34am – Drank hot water with 200mg powdered magnesium
9:35am – breathing felt deeper less shallow and less dry coughing stopped for a while
9:43am – took body temp (might not be as accurate this time as I drank hot water not too long ago but oh well) it was 98.8 degrees Fahrenheit – pretty normal
9:44am – had more gas and it started to rain just a little outside – decided to leave the windows open a little longer as I always feel the air is cleaner during and right after a bit of rain
9:45am-10:18am – brushed teeth with baking soda, showered (used baking soda to sort of soap up, did NOT wash hair), used Crystal stick deodorant, and got dressed
10:20am – closed all windows and curtains (after seeing two people pee in a bush right outside my window in a ten minute period – Czech’s really don’t have the same feelings towards peeing in public - I was grossed out and so closed the curtains even though now it’s hotter in here then I would like it to be as we don’t have air conditioning, ugh, oh well, I guess)
10:28am – nose was still stuffy (has been this whole time)
10:30am-10:40am – checked email on the computer
10:40am – took temp again and it was 96.8 degrees Fahrenheit – pretty low
10:41am-11:01am – Meditated - focused on breathing – had a hard time focusing and quieting my mind. I started out in a yoga relaxation pose laying on a big beach towel but then my nose got so stuffy I couldn’t breathe (the whole point of the exercise) so I sat up in a more traditional crossed legs meditation pose, which helped clear up one nostril though the other stayed really full. Kept thinking of other things and had to force myself to stop thinking and focus. Did feel more relaxed afterwards.
11:07am-11:53am – wrote in my journal
11:35am – had another bowel movement – not too hard, not too soft but was in really long thin pieces and I’m not sure if that is regular
11:54am – ate one bowel of puffed rice with whole milk (the milk is an all natural brand free from preservatives or other additives) and two small spoonfuls of sugar for taste
12:00pm-2:24pm (off and on) – worked on computer, checked email, did some research, read some blogs, etc
12:27pm – noticed my ears where feeling sort of pressurized and the right one was hurting a little bit and I was popping my jaw and yawning a lot
12:45pm – took temp again and it was 97.4 degrees Fahrenheit
12:46pm – noticed my nose was clearer – one nostril was still a little stuffy but I hadn’t blown my nose in about 30 minutes and over all it was much clearer and stayed clear for a while
12:47pm – had hives on my neck –didn’t last long though
1:16pm – got up felt dizzy, sat down for a second and then got up to load and run the dishwasher (I had tried using just baking soda in it last night but it didn’t work very well and some of the dishes had a weird film on them so I ran it with the dishwasher tablets I had been using)
1:20pm – realized that I hadn’t had any water yet today besides the hot water with magnesium so I drank a glass of water
1:21pm – drank another glass of water
1:48pm – took temp again and it was 96.5 degrees Fahrenheit
2:09pm – drank another glass of water

3:59pm – nose started to run
4:05pm – took the first batch of muffins out of the oven
4:06pm – noticed there was a rack in the oven that had some meat drippings on it from yesterday and took it out thinking that may be what was making my nose run
4:09pm – finished emptying the dishwasher and closed it up
4:10pm - put the next batch of muffins in the oven – licked the bowl – I love dough! Maybe it’s weird but I really do
4:12pm – hand washed some dishes (the stuff from the muffins and a pot from last night) with baking soda
4:38pm – noticed my nose was clear and had been clear for a few minutes
4:39pm – took last batch of muffins out of the oven and turned the oven off
4:42pm – back started to hurt, felt hot and worn out
4:43pm – took temp and it was 97.6 degrees Fahrenheit – then went back to finishing the dishes and wiping down the counters and everything
4:56pm – finished the dishes and the kitchen looked clean It felt nice to get everything cleaned up but it really wore me out – I feel exhausted and super hot and sweaty
5:01pm - It felt really hot so I opened one window to let a breeze in
5:02pm – ate 3 muffins with a little butter and drank another glass of water
5:16pm – had weird tingly feeling all over
SOMETIME BEFORE 6:20pm – my mom called and I talked to her and my dad and my brother – it was a sort of stressful conversation and made me cry a lot. I also got hives on my legs really bad during the call. Walked away from the conversation feeling like I had just been told I was stupid (which I know wasn’t their intention) and just feeling really discouraged which was frustrating because I had been feeling so hopeful today, like I was really on to something. So, needless to say I cried for a while after the call and still had hives – they spread to my arms and face. Talked to my husband for a while and he cheered me up quite a bit.
6:19pm – drank another glass of water
6:19pm-6:28pm – kissed my husband for a while – broke out in hives all around my mouth – I think from the tea he had just drank a few minutes before
6:28pm-? – checked email on the computer for a while
6:53pm – noticed nose was stuffy again
6:54pm – took temp again and it was 96.1 degrees Fahrenheit
7:15pm – nose was quite a bit better not really bothering me any more
8:02pm – drank another glass of water and took my birth control pill
8:46pm – right toes felt numb and tingly
8:48pm – took temp again and it was 94.1 degrees Fahrenheit – went to put on warmer cloths and closed the windows
8:50pm – make salad for dinner. Ate salad (a little more than a half a head of lettuce with dressing made from sunflower oil and the juice of half a lemon a little sprinkle of sugar and a little sprinkle of salt for flavor and to help them the oil and acid combine), also ate one muffin and drank one glass of water
9:52pm – hives on left leg
9:56pm – hives had died down quite a bit
9:57pm – noticed slight headache – not really a headache just sort of a weird feeling in head like super mild headache
10:04pm – drank another glass of water
10:35pm – had hives again – legs, arms, face, and back mostly
10:36pm – took temp 96.8 degrees Fahrenheit
10:44pm-? – brushed my teeth with baking soda
11:17pm – had hives sort of bad and nose was a little stuffy again but not that bad
11:19pm – had another glass of water
11:31pm – ate 2 muffins
11:35pm – drank another glass of water
11:38pm – cough returned and breathing felt shallow and sort of forced
11:44pm – Took 200mg of powdered magnesium in hot water
11:45pm – went to bed
Well over all I felt pretty good today…well there were good moments and bad but overall pretty good. My nose was actually clear most of the day (or at least most of the day compared to other days) and I did have hives but they weren’t ever super bad. So, that was Day Nine with a new game plan for eating and a new way of documenting things I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
Health to you and yours –
Beth
