    Dear everyone,

First of all, I am so sorry I have been away for so long. It took me a long time to adjust to the busy life here in NYC after living in Germany for so long and now that I am all settled in with a job and an apartment and all that good stuff, I would really like to get back into posting and sharing on the forum.

Anyway, quick question. Corn syrup - I know Sue Dengate uses it in a few of her recipes in The Failsafe Cookbook. I think she says that it is processed enough that no corn is left in it so no sals. Do the people on this forum avoid corn syrup due to sals or sulfites?

    Thanks for your help.
    Take care,
    Kerry xo

    Hi Kerry,
    Welcome back :o)
I mainly avoid corn due to sulphites as all processed corn has been bathed in a sulphite bath during processing and it is likely that some residue will remain.
I would also avoid "corn syprup" as it is a source of concentrated sugar...and I have big problems with sugar!
To sweeten baking I use a home made golden delicous apple /pear puree. It is just sweet enough for me ..
    Lindy xx

yes, lizzbethsue, it is HOT! But I have to admit I love it!

I guess I have a hard time keeping up with the forum because I find all the technical/scientific stuff very confusing. I know that my body isn't like most people's and I can't figure out why it's like that and that a low sal diet is the answer to all my problems, but I find it extremely hard to understand.

Just to vent: a girl in my office sprays perfume from time to time and I don't understand why she has to do that.. and it ruins my whole day. She just sprayed and I feel the headache coming on... it kills me that people don't realize that other people might not want to smell their perfume never mind the fact that there's a chance people have allergies/intolerances that cause health problems. ARGH! I know I should say something but I get so tired of being the strange one, the one who can't deal with everything. On top of that, I'm supposed to be going out to lunch with my boss this week and I don't even want to go. I don't feel like finding out which restaurant and trying to plan some kind of special meal. Plus my neighbors want to have us over for dinner AND I have a wedding to go to at the end of July which I have spent so much money on (gift, hotel, etc) and I am not even sure if there will be one thing there that I can eat.. It is really hard!

    ok sorry for the rant!

Yeha..I know about the technical stuff..before I took computer stuff..I took courses for medical terminology..which I never really used until now!

LOL...yeah my parents recently went to my cousins wedding and opted to get the "gluten free" meals (rather than chance it)...of course they don't live in same area as me so they seem to have more options as I do..

I don't think I've been to a restaurant for...a year..maybe more...gets boring having a glass of water and oops...they dropped a damn lemon in it! lol
I went to hospital recently and my husband went to get me something to eat...told burger place to clean the grill and fry me a burger with NOTHING on it and put lettuce on top and wrapped it up (no bun)! (told them I was allergic to everything) It WORKED!

I thought there was some anti office air pollution law about wearing perfume/cologne....generally if I think it affects your performance i think those things should be "optional"
I went to factory outlet and didn't realize just how HOT it was out..was sweltering and smelling every gum, perfume, cologne, food, drink that each person was consuming/wearing as they walked by...I find some of the deodorants my husband gets pretty offensive!
I don't think it's just "us" I wasn't always THIS super sensitive and I know other people I've worked with have complained about people wearing perfume...I think the ones that do build up a tolerance to it and can't smell it as well so they think they have to put on more (or maybe they can't stand to smell themselves?) :P ..used to work with people that painted their nails at work UGH...I'm in I.T. so over the years it has gotten less and less since most women don't work in the industry and men don't wear perfume or paint their nails but jobs previous to this..yak!

I have a hard time with the technical stuff also.I just get what I can out of it,Write down what I think applies to me and try to research it a little bit to understand more so I can ask my Dr some things, but I am very far from understanding alot of it,about that perfume,it makes me so angry I wonder if thats a symptom or I;m just irritated that much by it,since asthma is one of my problems,I tell them they cause me to have asthma attacks so they seem to understand that, but sometimes customers in the store are drenched in it,you have my sympathy,Jean
