    Hi Everyone,

I'm from the UK and I realise I have salicylate problems and pretty sure my children do too. I'm dealing with it best way I can. but any help with following questions would be great!

    Is sodium ascorbate ok?
Is hemp oil ok? I cannot tolerate evening primrose or fish oils, are they high salicylate?
I really want to take mct oils (been doing lots of research into them) does anyone know if these would be suitable?
Does anyone know where I can get salicylate free skin products in UK?
And lastly, does anyone know of a great doctor in the UK for salicylate sensitivity? I am waiting to see Dr Tak Lee at St Thomas's but not sure if he knows about sals.

Sorry there are so many, if you can even answer one Q, would be so helpful.

p.s Your site is so helpful!

    Hi tigerlily,
sodium ascorbate itself is fine, but the colours, flavours, binders, fillers, etc which generally come with supplement tablets are often a problem. I assume you're talking about hemp seed oil. There is a paper which found it to have a trace amount of methyl salicylate, but it's hard to know if this would be a problem, and I haven't found any other information. I've had hemp seed oil without any obvious reaction, but noticed a spicy taste at the bottom of the 2nd bottle I had, and thought it might be a bad sign. You can find quite a lot on fish oil if you do a search of this forum - a lot of people can't tolerate it, but amines seem to be the problem rather than salicylates. I'm not sure about evening primrose oil, but plant oils should generally be treated with caution unless known to be safe.

Hi I had taken primrose oil for years also Chromium with picnolate I think that the Chromium caused the sen
sitivity to salicylates and that is what the allergy specialist said I have been off the Chromium for over a year. I also quit taking primrose oil. My hands and feet were not as itcy lately but very dry and cracked. So the other day I took primrose oil again and the itch returned very bad so I would be careful with it.
